Properties of the Be-type stars in 30 Doradus

ABSTRACT The evolutionary status of Be-type stars remains unclear, with both single-star and binary pathways having been proposed. Here, VFTS spectroscopy 73 stars, in the spectral-type range, B0–B3, is analysed to estimate projected rotational velocities, radial stellar parameters. They are found be rotating faster than corresponding B-type sample but simulations imply that their velocities inconsistent them all at near critical velocities. de-convolution estimates leads a mean velocity 320–350 km s?1, approximately 100 s?1 larger for sample. There dearth targets less 0.4 velocity, broad distribution reaching up rotation. Our best or median 0.68 velocity. Rapidly more numerous counterparts, whilst observed frequency identified as systems significantly lower normal consistent respective radial-velocity dispersions. semi-amplitudes binaries also smaller. Similar results Small Magellanic Cloud centred on NGC 346 no significant differences being between two samples. These compared predictions single models stars. Assuming mechanism dominated production classical our comparison would favour history.
